Sleepoppy and Popwinkle

(Left) Sleepoppy
It is always tired because its body produces compounds that induce sleep as a defense mechanism against foes. 

(Right) Popwinkle
It ingrains itself into the ground so that it can suck nutrients from the ground; this allows it remain asleep in for years rooted in a single place.

They are based on poppies, Popwinkle is based on Rip Van Winkle.
